Winter School

In this module, you will meet and work together with fellow students during three Fridays on various (central) locations. We will explore the circular transition, (personal) leadership, design thinking and what we can learn from nature. During the Winter School, you will get all the knowledge you need to work on change issues in creative ways. And you get to meet and work together with other passionate students. 


December 1st | Leadership for the Circular Transition

time: 10:00-16:30 (& drinks afterwards)
location: Vogelfrei, Nijverheidsweg 6, 3534 AM Utrecht (walking distance Utrecht-Zuilen / 15 min bike-ride from Utrecht Central Station)


During this first day of the winterschool you will get to know your fellow students. After a kick-off by Indy van den Sande, policy officer from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, we will take a dive in the world of transition and leadership. In the guidance of Jifke Sol you will learn what leadership is and how you can be more effective in what you do. 

At the end of the day, you...:

  • got to connect with fellow students, who are just as passionate as you about sustainability;
  • you learned wat circular transition is
  • you learned what leadership is and how you can play your role;
  • you experienced how personal change is related to societal transition;
  • know your own value and how you can make a change for a sustainable future.

December 8th | Workshop Design Thinking 

time: between 10 and 17hrs 

In this workshop with Bas van den Berg and Guido Stompff you will take a Sustainability walk. In this walk, you will find your own sustainability challenge by looking around you. How do you relate to this particular part of sustainability? Together with your team you will untangle the challenge of your choice, and engage in creative ways to come up with out-of-the box solutions. 


During the day Bas and Guido will guide you and your team through the fases of design thinking. At the end of the day, you...:

  • recognize sustainability challenges and possibilities in your surroundings;
  • are able to work on change issues in creative ways and think more out of the box;
  • you learned and experimented with the phases of design thinking
  • you worked together with a group of other passionate students;
  • know your own value and how you can make a change for a sustainable future.

 

Bas van den Berg is an activist researcher and policy maker at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the Expertise Network Systemic Co-Design, where he researches Regenerative education.

Guido Stompff is Professor (Lector) Design Thinking at Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Guido helps to make the world more creative, with practice-based research and integrating design thinking in education.


January 12th | Biomimicy: what can we learn from nature?

During this day, Yvonne van Lith, will show what we can learn from nature and how you can take that inspiration with you in your own learnings. Together with your team you will explore mechanisms in Nature that might have answers to your own circular transition challenges. Ofcourse we will try to take a look outside in nature, during this day!
